Figure 1: Atlantic projectile points are the most commonly found pre-colonial artifacts at the farm. These triangular stemmed blades, from at least 3700 years ago, were primarily used as spearheads and knives. This photo shows the life of an Atlantic point starting with a preform (far left) which is simply a large stone worked down to a smaller size to make it easier to transport and turn into a refined tool. The next artifact (second from the left) is a completed Atlantic point. And the remaining three are reworked Atlantic points. Native peoples did not waste their resources and a broken or used point could be reshaped or re-sharpened for continued use until it was worthless.
